The DCBA E- Law Tech program addressed the latest Eservice changes in the laws for attorneys. The program Moderator was James J. Feeney, of Counsel Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP. Judge Judith L. Kreeger, Senior Circuit Judge and Recent Chair of the Florida Supreme Court’s Florida Courts Technology Commission served as a panelist. Other panelists included; Jack Throckmorton, Director of Sales and Operations for SiteLogic Inc. and Ilan Sredni, Technology Expert/Author, Co-Host of the Brilliant Business Radio Show and President of Palindrome Consulting, specializing in information technology for high caliber businesses, law firms and medical practices.
The E-Law program covered a variety of important E-topics addressed from different perspectives so that attendees got complete information on the new laws as well as how to best address the cloud and security issues.
Valuable information was shared with attendees covering the e-topic. Judge Judith L. Kreeger, Senior Circuit Judge and Recent Chair for the Florida Supreme Court’s Florida Courts Technology Commission said, “The contents of this program are vital for all lawyers who practice in Florida state courts, as Florida courts progress towards managing and processing their cases using electronic systems and electronic records. Since implementation is so recent and is ongoing, there may be glitches that will lead to refinements and further amendments, so all practitioners should remain alert to new developments.”

Mr. Sredni spoke to business owners and professional from three chambers of commerce at the recent Uptown Business Networking Group about the BYOD topic. Some believe that Bringing Your Own Devices to Work helps productiveness while increasing morale and convenience. It saves a company more money while making it appear to be more flexible and attractive. Yet, the audience discovered that there are also security issues to consider as confidential client information is carried around on BYOD devices.
The Cuban American Bar Association Breakfast CLE program on “Adapting to an E-World: What Attorneys Must Know in Applying the New E-Discovery Rules & How to Store and Manage Electronic Data” was created to assist members with the legal system’s overhaul with new laws that have recently gone into effect.
