It’s here. Today is June 1st, which officially opens the 2018 Atlantic Hurricane season. Yes, we’ve already seen one named storm along the Atlantic coast (Alberto, just last week); but as of today, the storm season watch should be on everyone in South Florida’s radar.
So, what should we expect for 2018? Forecasters are predicting an average to above normal season storm season and it’s expected that up to 16 named storms will develop by the end of September. Up to nine of these storms are expected to be classified as a hurricane, with as many as 4 of these rated at Category 3 or higher.
